Extra comfort option

Hair transplant with sleep sedation

Sleep comfortably throughout the procedure. Under continuous medical supervision by an anesthesiologist. For those who want extra comfort or less tension.

What is sleep sedation?

Sleep sedation is a controlled form of sedation in which you are in a comfortable, light to deep sleep during the procedure. You feel and experience nothing and wake up calmly afterwards.

  • Under supervision of an anesthesiologist
  • Continuous monitoring of vital functions
  • Extra comfort for anxiety or tension

Who is it suitable for?

  • For anxiety or tension before the procedure
  • For long procedures or higher graft counts
  • On request, after medical assessment

Please note: suitability is always assessed during the consultation. Contraindications may apply.

How does sleep sedation work?

In three clear steps – with continuous monitoring and supervision.

1

Preparation

Medical intake, ASA assessment and explanation. You will receive clear instructions (e.g. fasting before arrival).

2

During the procedure

You sleep peacefully throughout. The anesthesiologist and team continuously monitor your vital functions.

3

Afterwards

You wake up calmly in a comfortable room. You will receive guided aftercare instructions.

Medical supervision

Always with an anesthesiologist and protocol-driven monitoring.

Monitoring

Vital functions (including heart rate, breathing, oxygen) continuously monitored.

Comfort

You experience no discomfort or stress; you sleep through the entire procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about our treatment techniques

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) extracts individual hair follicles and places them into pre-made incisions. DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) uses a special Choi pen to implant follicles directly without pre-made incisions, which allows for greater precision and a shorter recovery time.
FUE is ideal for large numbers of grafts and larger areas (3000–5000+ grafts). DHI is perfect for smaller numbers and small, detailed areas such as eyebrows or the hairline. DHI can also be performed without shaving. Our specialists are happy to advise you during a free consultation.
Both techniques are performed under local anaesthesia, which makes the procedure virtually painless. At Alpha Hair Clinic we are the first in the Netherlands to also offer needle-free anaesthesia, further increasing comfort. After the procedure you may experience mild sensitivity, but this is easily manageable with pain medication.
FUE has a recovery time of 7–10 days, while DHI typically heals faster in 5–7 days. In both cases, you can usually return to normal work and sports after about 2 weeks. Scabs fall off within 10–14 days. The full final result is visible after 10–12 months.
Every situation is unique, which is why we create a personalised treatment plan during a free, no-obligation consultation. Our specialist analyses your hair situation, discusses your wishes and provides a transparent custom quote. This way you know exactly what to expect, with no surprises.
Yes, both techniques provide permanent results. The transplanted hair follicles are genetically resistant to baldness and continue to grow for life. After the initial “shock loss” phase (2–4 weeks after treatment), new hair begins to grow and you will reach the full, natural final result after 10–12 months.
This depends on the size of the bald area and the desired density. On average: small areas 1000–2000 grafts, medium areas 2000–3000 grafts, large areas 3000–5000+ grafts. FUE can place more grafts in one session than DHI. A precise analysis during your consultation determines the exact number.
Yes, but our specialists will advise which technique is best suited to your situation. Sometimes a combination of both techniques is optimal: FUE for larger areas and DHI for detailed zones such as the hairline. During your free consultation we will discuss all options and decide together on the best approach.
